When you talk about Indian Sufi music and qawwalis then the first name comes to the mind is Nizami Bandhu. Nizami Bandhu is the most admired and prestigious Sufi band by of Ustad Chand Nizami, Shadad Faridi Nizami and Sohrab Faridi Nizami. The band has dedication and inclination towards qawwalis writer by the poet Amir Khusro in the honor of Nizammuddin Aulia. The origin of this qawwal group is from Dargah Hazrat Nizamuddin, Delhi in the year 1350.

Some of the renowned past members of this Sufi music band include Ustad Mehmood Nizami, Ghulam Farid Nizami and Mustaq Khan. Though, they have first screen appearance in 2011 with Ranbeer Kapoor in “Kun Faya Kun” from the movie Rockstar. The song was highly appreciated across the country and was a big hit. Later, in the year 2015 they again sung “Aaj Rang Hai” in the movie Bajrangi Bhaijaan which was directed by Kabir Khan.

    SHADAB NIZAMI

    One of the two nephews of Chand Nizami, Shadab Faridi Nizami is a qawwal from Sikandrabad Agra Gharana who has taken up from where his father “Ustad Gulham Faridi Nizami“ left and continued his legacy of Sufi music.
    In contrast to what today’s artists are following, he has made a distinct identity in the music world and his genres include playback singing and qawwali that he has inherited from his ancestors. Though young, he’s far from ordinary and mesmerises the audience with his soul-satisfying musical melodies.

    CHAND NIZAMI

    As the main lead singer of Nizami Bandhu from last 20 years and part of the band from last 35 years, Ustaad Chand Nizami heads the sufi band with his two nephews. He started singing when he was only 6 years old at Dargah Hazrat Nizamuddin, Delhi.
    After being featured in the super hit song “Kun Faya Kun” from the film Rockstar in 2011, the Nizami Bandhu found a face, in addition to the voice they already had. Being a qawwal, Chand Nizami has also written Nazms and Ghazals in Urdu, in addition to the playback singing he does.

    Being the younger member of the sufi band, Sohrab Faridi is the nephew of Chand Nizami and the son of Ghulam Faridi Nizami who passed away in 2003. He studied at Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya Dargah and is an active member of the musical group.
